Our story

A clinic built on being human

Stillwater Mind Clinic began with a simple frustration: too many people white-knuckling their way through anxiety, grief, and burnout because therapy felt clinical, cold, or out of reach. We built the kind of place we wished existed — rigorous in method, human in manner.

Who we are

"Therapy should end — that's the point."

Helen founded Stillwater Mind Clinic after a decade in hospital psychiatry, where she watched people cycle in and out of care without ever building the skills to stay well. Her conviction shapes everything we do: our goal isn't to keep you in therapy forever. It's to help you find your footing — so you can walk forward on your own.

Today she leads a team of six licensed clinicians who share that philosophy: evidence-based methods, honest progress tracking, and a room — physical or virtual — where you never have to perform being okay.

Six licensed psychologists, counselors, and marriage and family therapists, supervised to the highest ethical standards and trained in CBT, EFT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based care.

Whatever brings you here stays in a space of warmth and confidentiality. No lectures, no labels, no judgment — just honest conversation at your pace.

We blend cognitive-behavioral, emotionally focused, and mindfulness-based methods, review progress with you every sixth session, and adjust the plan together — always collaborative, always practical.

Come as you are. Leave steadier.

Your first conversation is free, unhurried, and without pressure — in person in Stillwater or by secure video anywhere in Minnesota.
